Hello everybody. I began this blog because as I was searching around about cloth diapers, I got a little bit confused, so I said to share my experience with anyone who has questions, just like me. Everyhting started one and a half year ago...

Stripping or "Get everything of"

After some time of use
or if leaks start
or if it smells ammonia after a few peeing
or if you used a nappy rush cream without a liner
or if you forgot the diapers in the bucket for more than 2-3 days unwashed,

or just for periodic maintenance, anyway,
you should clean your diapers from any residues.
So you have to do stripping!

   The diapers that have hemp or microfleece tend to keep at their fibers more odors and residues than the purest, such as cotton and bamboo.

   The easiest procedure about stripping that I found is from "clothnappy.info":

Step 1 - Clean your washing machine, sometimes the detergent build up can be traced back to the machine itself. A 90 degree full cycle with an empty drum will do this.

Step 2 - Run your nappies through a 60 degree full cycle with a full cup of detergent, to ensure they are cleaned thoroughly.
Step 3 - Rinse, rinse, rinse! Give your nappies plenty of cold rinses and only stop when you can no longer see any bubbles mid cycle.

Simple things...

I thought it was necessary to get an opinion from a greek mommy, diaper-user, so here is what Chrysa, from the parents.gr forum, is doing (hope I managed the translation...);
"I ended using this stripping routine after trying to balance my ecological concerns and the periodic need of my diapers for deeper cleaning.
The fleece diapers, I put them on a basin with boild water and a little dish washing liquid and when the water gets a little cold, I use an old toothbrush to scrap them insideout.
Afterwards I put them at the laundry machine with the rest of the diapers, at the 60 degrees (I refuse to run a 90 degrees washing cycle, although it is sugested to be better for diaper stripping), I add 6 soapnuts, calgon and 1 teespoon of dishwashing liquid. Then I run one more quick washing cycle at 45 degrees and, finally, a 20 minutes cycle just for rinsing"
